Ikawa House is the union of two talented people, Laetitia and Uzziel. Together they aim to make the Rwandan coffee sector more equitable.
Laëtitia Mukandahiro was born and raised in Rwanda, in a family of coffee farmers in the Northern Province. After completing her secondary education in economics, Laëtitia joined the Dukundekawa Musasa coffee cooperative. She then worked as a quality manager in several local washing stations and export companies. Laëtitia has been a Q-Grader since 2011 and has been a national and international judge in several Cup of Excellence competitions.
Uzziel Habimana has over 18 years of experience in the coffee industry. He is a Q-Grader and holds a degree in Social Sciences. He is a renowned roaster and has participated in several national and international Cups of Excellence.
Together they founded Ikawa House, an export company for Rwandan speciality coffee from small producers and cooperatives. Since February 2019, they have been guaranteeing fair prices for farmers and high-quality, traceable coffee for customers. They are committed for a fair industry, reinvesting 20% of their profits back into local farming communities.
