The story of Fazneda Takahashi begins with the arrival of Haru Takahashi, the mother of producer Jorge, in Brazil.v The family moved from Yamagata province in Japan to Tomé-Açu, where the cacao is produced, in 1930.
After spending a few years in São Paulo and meeting Jorge's father, Shinsaku, the whole family returned to live in Tomé-Açu in 1962. In 1967, Jorge's father died and Haru took over the farm. She first grew pepper, then cacao from the mid-1970s, using agroforestry methods.
Since then, cacao has grown alongside other crops: mahogany, açaí, Brazil nuts, bacuri, erythrine, cumaru and ucuúba. All this on an area of 218 hectares, 49 hectares of which are dedicated to growing cacao, with the following varieties: Marañon, Forastero, Trinitario. Each year, Jorge Takahashi produces around 25 tonnes.
Since 2014, Jorge Takahashi has been working to produce top-quality cacao, which we are delighted to present to you.
