Romina sets up social and environmental projects for the producers

Traceability, we always want more!

History of our Nyala
Before 2015 we had a Sidama Grade 2, then we evolved to a Sidama type A Q2 (83+).
In 2020, the regulations allowed us to access traceability information and the washing stations were able to export directly!
Today we have not 1 but 3 NYALA coffees, fully washed processed by 3 washing stations : Birbirsa Kojowa, Nibret Alamu & Nensebo (organic)

NENSEBO BOCHESA
This coffee is collected from 400 small producers by the family-owned Romina company. The cherries are fully washed processed and dried at the Bochesa village station in the Nensebo woreda (district) of the Oromo region (West Arsi zone).
The village of Bochesa is located at 1900 meters above sea level. Coffee is produced in its immediate vicinity. The farmers here work small plots of land in mixed farming systems.
Romina established the Bochesa washing station in 2018. The company invests in this station to ensure finely traceable and ever more qualitative lots. It also sets up social and environmental projects for the producers from whom it collects the cherries. Agricultural training courses are provided. Recently Romina has also developed a project to install beehives in Bochesa, to enable the farmers to produce their own honey and diversify their income. Finally, in order to protect the environment, Romina is distributing seeds to replant shade trees above the coffee trees in this area.

This coffee is collected by Romina PLC from several small producers. This family business, based in Addis Ababa, is currently run by Michael Girma. In his thirties, full of energy and ideas, he works with the best coffees in Ethiopia for export. He shares with his parents and two brothers the desire to develop local economies in Ethiopia. The family operates in several sectors, with coffee export being one of their main areas of focus. They are keen to see investment in Ethiopia grow and work with rigour and passion to unlock the country's potential. The Romina company operates 12 washing and drying stations in the country, in the Sidama region, Yirgacheffe and Wallaga. They also have a factory in Addis Ababa which allows them to export quality coffees.
