In its early years, the farm was conceived as a retreat to enjoy nature and grow cacao. However, in 2017, Dr. Vidal met engineer Moisés Torres, and together with the NGO Alianza Cacao, they transformed the old coffee plantation into a cacao farm with Criollo varieties growing alongside the forest.
Thanks to their collaboration and Dr. Vidal’s six-month agroforestry training, Finca Las Violetas is now one of the most beautiful cacao forests in El Salvador.
Since 2024, the farm has been certified organic by Mayacert. With an annual production of 2 tons, Finca Las Violetas operates under a complex agroforestry system that not only ensures the quality of the cacao but also supports the conservation of the local ecosystem.
