Hacienda Misiones
El Colegio

About

Just two hours south of Bogotá, on the road to El Colegio and near the iconic Tequendama Falls, lies Hacienda Misiones. Founded in 1899 by Don Pedro Londoño and partners, this estate has been led by three generations and is today under the stewardship of Luis Fernando Lloreda Londoño. Its name, Misiones, comes from the religious missions once carried out here, where the estate hosted gatherings and community activities that shaped its history.

For over a century, Hacienda Misiones has combined tradition with responsible farming practices. The estate is dedicated to sustainable agronomy, using preventive and eco-friendly methods rather than aggressive chemical interventions. While minimal use of non-residual chemical inputs is applied, great care is taken to protect pollinators, preserve soil microbiota, and encourage biodiversity. Weed control is managed through pre-sowing herbicides and manual practices such as scything and hoeing, fostering a natural balance with native flora.

Today, Hacienda Misiones employs around 80 full-time workers, most of whom live on the estate in homes assigned to each project. More than just a coffee farm, it is a living legacy of tradition, community, and environmental stewardship.
