Dafne et Damaris Gallardo

Las Gallardo

About

The farm owned by the Gallardo sisters is located in the Chiriqui region of the Juruntugo terroir bordering Costa Rica at an altitude of 1,750 metres. The soil is sandy and of volcanic origin. The steep path that leads to the farm plunges you immediately into a preserved natural environment, surrounded by imposing trees and cliffs. Spread over 30 hectares of arable land, the plantation run by Dafne and Damaris Gallardo produces mainly fully-washed Caturra and Catuai varieties. The coffee is harvested by hand between December and February. It is dried in mechanical dryers for 26 hours to achieve optimum humidity and therefore a higher quality cup. Out of respect for both the environment and product quality, the Gallardo sisters prefer to use a “conventional" agricultural system that includes an ecological dimension. The farm run by the Gallardo sisters grows 30 hectares of coffee, but extends over more than a 100 hectares of forest and mountains. These mountains and greenery create an absolutely unique setting.
