This coffee comes from West Java. The coffee plantation is old, with large coffee trees that are around 25 years old. The trees are quite tall (around 3 metres) and are still producing coffee. There are 2,100 coffee trees per hectare, alongside large old trees of eucalyptus, dadap, erythrine and other types such as banana and avocado.
The area is beautiful, well-managed and clean. To regenerate the plantation, the trees are not replaced by new ones, but the old trees are kept, cut down and grafted with productive plants. This technique preserves the old trees, which are already resistant, and makes them productive again.
There are few diseases. The trees are not treated. Some farmers use a few herbicides to clean the plantations.
The coffee processing is natural and carried out by the farmers themselves. Robusta coffee is stocked and sorted directly in Puntang.
