Woreda Gomma

In Gomma, coffee has been produced for centuries by small-scale farmers with traditional skills. By growing their coffee in the forest, they are perpetuating the region's agricultural heritage. The coffee trees in Goma come from the Choche forest, which legend has it is the place where coffee originated. At an altitude of 2,000 metres, the plots are developed using a mixed farming model that combines food and cash crops.

Meet Nazimu Abamecha

A few words about Nazimu Abamecha

Nazimu Abamecha is a child from Botto, a village where his family has been producing coffee for several generations. We've been working together since 2018. He inherited his father's farm and hopes that one day one of his children will manage the land like him here. Nazimu, a man full of energy, is concerned to reveal the best of Jimma's coffees. He created the Duromina cooperative to ensure better recognition of the region's coffee production. He was the manager of this cooperative for 8 years. So, his knowledge on the product, on trading and his dedication to this work is huge.

But, aware that increasing value of coffee is linked with a better traceability, he decided to sell his coffee independently. His focus on high-end quality microlots and traceability has led him to partner with Belco to bring you the best of Jimma's coffees. As a proud inheritor of his family's coffee-producing legacy, Nazimu hopes to pass on his knowledge and passion to future generations.
