About this coffee

The birthplace of coffee, Jimma offers varieties with internationally recognized qualities. This region boasts a rich natural environment and incredible biodiversity.

Coffee is traditionally grown here in forest and semi-forest, in association with species of shade trees that ensure slow ripening of the cherries and high-quality coffee.

Do you know where the name comes from? In Ethiopia, the jebena is the name given to the traditional earthenware coffee pot. Even today, it is used throughout the country to prepare coffee, and has become a national emblem for coffee.

Zone Jimma

Jimma is a land of coffee origins. This appellation benefits from a rich natural environment where coffee grows mainly in the shade of large endemic trees, in the heart of the forests. The coffee produced here offers fine quality cups and an inspiring agricultural model. Yet this appellation has been a little slow to join the international speciality coffee scene. The work of local producers and the organisation of these coffee growers has revealed the potential of Jimma coffees, ensuring traceability and quality.
