About this coffee

Jaboticaba is a small, very sweet fruit with good acidity, native to Brazil. This species of fruit tree, also known as the Brazilian vine, is characteristic of the Minas Gerais region in the southeast of the country.

We call this coffee Jaboticaba to refer to the cup's sweet & tangy profile.

Our partnership with the Croce family of FAF (Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza) goes back several years. Their Bob O Link project has been duplicated in the Caparaó region. FAF's projects in Brazil give a new image and a positive impact on production in a country where intensive agriculture and monoculture are the norm.

The Bob O Link is the name of an endangered migratory bird endemic to Brazil. It migrates every year between the USA and Brazil, but unfortunately no longer finds the food resources necessary for its migration period due to intensive monoculture. This bird is above all a symbol.

The Bob O Link project is a global approach that places coffee at the center of a project for life, nature and its preservation. It's an innovative vision that creates value by diversifying crops and therefore sources of income.

We've been supporting this project for many years, as it represents the future of the industry and has inspired us a great deal in our sourcing: do little, but do it well, and make the most of every crop!

The terroir Grumarin

The municipality of Caparaó is located in the hills of the Serra do Caparaó, south of the Mata Atlantica, the Atlantic Rainforest.

Caparaó is one of the "new" micro-regions of Brazil and coffee is the region's main source of income. After the colonisation of the region in 1842, coffee cultivation developed locally. From 1848, the large farms were divided into several small family plots. The coffee plantations are located between 900 and 1400 metres above sea level, in mountainous areas where mechanisation is not possible. The community of Grumarin (Grumarinho) lives in an environment where nature is central. The area is home to a thousand-year-old tree, the "Jequitiba Rosa".
