Originating from the terroirs of Planadas and Gaitania, in the south of the Tolima region, this coffee is cultivated in a high-altitude area very often traversed by clouds. It is from this particularity that its name originates, as « Fábrica » comes from « Cloud Factory ».
We truly fell in love with this coffee, which is part of high-altitude organic production (1600 - 2000 m). The coffee is produced from heirloom varieties such as Bourbon, Typica, Caturra, Castillo, and Colombia, a very rare varietal today.
This coffee is produced in two indigenous coffee farmer cooperatives by over 240 families from the NASA WE'SX community, across the terroirs of Planadas and Gaitania. Each family cultivates between 2 and 4 hectares approximately. These terroirs are protected lands where more than 6000 trees can be found per hectare.
This land, along with their commitment to environmental stewardship, makes these communities key players in the production of high-quality organic coffees in Colombia. They have partnered to promote their coffee cultivation, ensure sustainable income for their families, and strengthen their community.
