Women producers of APCi association produce a terroir coffee in Imbabura region, Intag area.
Coffee trees are mostly produced in high altitudes (higher than 1500 meters), bringing more complexity to the coffee. The many farms that are part of the project are located between 1,500 and 2,100 masl.
Intag is the name of a river that crosses Intag. Historically, the river basin has nurtured coffee production for more than a century. Today, there are more than 134 hectares of cultivated coffee in that area.
Imbabura region is quite touristic, as it has gorgeous landscapes of snowy mountain peaks surrounding the Cotacachi volcano. This region extends all the way to the Colombian border on lands with high peaks, deep ravines or small streams and rivers which irrigate the whole area. The coffee harvest period begins in July and finishes in September and then cherries are fully washed and dry on African beds.
