The word Tojtik refers to the roots of the Acatenango community. In their language, Tojtik means "our" or "ours," and reflects the spirit of cooperation, tradition, and hard work of all these small coffee producers. Each bean in this lot is the result of the dedicated work of their families, who cultivate in harmony and tradition with the land.

The region Acatenango
Acatenango takes its name from the volcano of the same name. This is the most recently recognized coffee-growing region, synonymous with family farms and verdant mountains. The beans are harvested in the shade, at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres, on mineral-rich soils. The beans are dried in the sun and processed according to age-old family traditions. Coffee grows at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres.
The constant eruptions of the nearby Fuego volcano maintain the mineral-rich sandy soils. Temperate winds from the Pacific Ocean and marked seasons make it easy to sun-dry coffee in the region.
