Tojtik refers to…

The word Tojtik refers to the roots of the Acatenango community. In their language, Tojtik means "our" or "ours," and reflects the spirit of cooperation, tradition, and hard work of all these small coffee producers. Each bean in this lot is the result of the dedicated work of their families, who cultivate in harmony and tradition with the land.

The Asociación Sostenible de Productores de Guatemala (ASPROGUATE) began operations in 2014, led by a group of organized producers distributed in the municipalities of Acatenango and San Martín Jilotepeque, located in Chimaltenango’s department, and the municipality of Cobán, located in Alta Verapaz’s department, with purpose of marketing quality coffees grown using organic farming practices is to market them.

Tojyik coffee is the result of the efforts and dedication of the Asociación de Productores de Acatenango, grown in nutrient-rich volcanic soils using sustainable agricultural practices. This coffee is certified organic, guaranteeing a crop and product free of synthetic chemicals, respecting biodiversity and promoting the natural balance of the ecosystem. Furthermore, Acatenango producers implement good environmental practices to conserve their resources and offer a coffee of exceptional quality, with a unique flavor profile that reflects the purity and richness of our land.

Association ASPROGUATE

ASPROGUATE is more than a coffee association—it is a story of passion, resilience, and community. Founded in 2014 by a group of producers from Cobán, Acatenango, and Chimaltenango, the association was created with a clear vision: to share Guatemala’s finest organic coffees with the world while improving the lives of the families who cultivate them. What began with 100 committed producers quickly grew into a movement. Inspired by the success of the project, neighboring farmers joined, and by 2016 ASPROGUATE had established its headquarters in San Martín Jilotepeque to centralize operations and provide greater support to its members.

Since its foundation, ASPROGUATE has pursued a mission to create social and economic development for small coffee producers in Guatemala by offering sustainable and differentiated access to international markets. Its vision is to be recognized worldwide as a leading producers’ association, celebrated both for the quality of its coffees and the human stories behind them.

Through education and training, ASPROGUATE empowers producers with new agricultural practices and market knowledge. It builds long-term relationships with international buyers, ensuring stability and fair opportunities for its members. At the same time, the association remains committed to sustainability, encouraging efficient and environmentally responsible farming methods that protect both the land and future generations.
