An innovative vision that recreates value by diversifying crops and therefore sources of income

Our partnership with FAF (Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza) and Croce Family goes back several years. The project carried out by FAF in Brazil give a new image and a positive impact on production in a country where intensive agriculture and monoculture are the norm.

BOB O LINK, another face of Brazil:

Firstly, this funny name is a name of an endemic migratory bird of Brazil, endangered. It migrates every year between the USA and Brazil but unfortunately no longer finds the food resources necessary for its period of migration because of intensive monoculture. This bird is above all a symbol.

The BOB O LINK project is an integral quality, whether at the environmental, social or cup quality level.

Initiated at FAF by the Croce family who created a concept farm, this project was then duplicated in more than 50 neighboring farms. Concretely, the actions put in place as a priority when joining the project are:

Reforestation

+

Polyculture

+

Protection of waterways

+

Training of teams

+

A more global change of lifestyle

that begins with the ban on sodas, the provision of fresh fruit juice at will, a healthier diet!

It is a philosophy / global approach that places coffee at the center of a project of life, nature and its maintenance. An innovative vision that recreates value by diversifying crops and therefore sources of income. We have been supporting this project for many years, it represents the future of the industry and has inspired us a lot in our sourcing!

In addition, Brazilian producers registered in a family farming scheme, far from Brazilian standards, see this project as an innovative solution to stand out. Do little but do well and value each culture!

This coffee is produced by Paulo Teixeira on his farm Sete Marias.

The Serra do Caracol Valley is located in the town of Andradas, in Sul de Minas. It is a mountainous area very popular with paragliders.

The name Sete Marias comes from the first name of Paulo's grandmother, Maria, who had 6 daughters.

Paulo Teixeira's family is of Italian origin. They first grew grapes and then became interested in growing coffee.

Paulo has a degree in agronomy. He has been producing organic coffee and implementing sustainability projects on the Sete Marias farm since 1999. Passionate about coffee, he closely monitors all stages of production, from the soil to the process, in order to control and adjust the quality of his coffees and their flavour profiles.

The region Sul de Minas

The Sul de Minas region is, as its name suggests, the southern area of the greater Minas Gerais region. Known as one of the largest coffee producing regions in Brazil, the Sul de Minas region is a traditional production area for Arabica coffee (introduced in the 1850s), accounting for about 30% of national production. This is a mountainous region with high altitudes, a balance of high amount of rain yet lots of sun, a soil which is rich in biodiversity and also part of an old Volcanic Crater, making this region’s soil Volcanic Soil. This gives the coffees from here a flavor of high in sweetness yet with above average acidity. Present fruit tones and good body with a silky texture.

Altitudes are reaching from 850 masl up to 1250 masl. Average temperatures lay between 17°C and 24°C. The microclimate of the region contributes to an excellent terroir for growing coffee, showing acidity, citric and fruity aromas as well as a full body. Our main focus region for high quality coffee sourcing is the ‘Serra do Caracol’ – a mountain chain formed by a volcanic crater close to the touristic city Poços de Caldas.

The municipalities Andradas and Ibitiúra de Minas are home to the majority of our partner communities. There, small-holder and family farming properties cover the mountainous areas and slopes. Serra do Caracol Valley is a community located closeby the small city Andradas. The Topography of this region resembles the south of France and the mountain range is highly appreciated by paragliders. The main characteristic of the terroir of Serra do Caracol valley - creamy body, high sweetness and a slightly fruit taste.
