Our coffee is unique and exceptional because we prioritize several key factors: traceability from cultivation to export, environmentally friendly production methods (such as utilizing waste generated during production and using solar energy for our entire facility), the use of traditional tools (like biochar), processing with specialized machinery, and fair treatment and compensation for our workers.

A family-owned business specializing in high-quality, 100% organic shade-grown coffeee
Certified organic and bird-friendly, Finca La Pradera stands out for its innovative approach to coffee farming.
At the heart of its model is a complex agroforestry system comprising three layers of shade and fifteen different tree species. This structure not only protects the coffee trees from direct sunlight, but also provides a rich habitat for local biodiversity and migratory birds.
The farm uses sustainable farming practices, including terracing to combat erosion and adapt to climate change. Mixed farming, including fruit trees and poultry, diversifies income and food resources.
100% organic compost, produced locally from a mixture of filtered wastewater, chicken manure and plant waste, is used to feed the coffee trees.
The social dimension is a key concern, with facilities for seasonal workers designed to retain essential labour during the harvest period.
This coffee is semi-washed. In this process, the beans are pulped and then the mucilage is eliminated by mechanical friction. The coffee is then dried without being washed in water, hence the name "semi-washed". This method preserves the characteristics of the mucilage while ensuring that the coffee is clean as washed coffee.
The name 'Comuneros' pays homage to the revolutionary history of the region, famous for its uprising against Spanish colonialism in the 18th century. This coffee embodies the region's spirit of independence and resistance.

TreffenOscar Daza
Ein paar Worte zu Oscar Daza
We met Oscar Daza, owner of Finca La Pradera in Aratoca (in the region of Santander). After spending his childhood in the heart of the coffee plantations, Oscar has taken the farm over from his grandfather José Rosario Daza, then his father Hector, and is now part of the third generation. Oscar and his wife Mildred are at the head of 13 farms representing 185 hectares. Mildred is at the origin of the Santa Maria project which promotes the production of women's coffee with 5 farms and 80 hectares.
Oscar is recognised and appreciated in the region. He has received numerous awards for his commitment and work. He is also very involved in local community projects and, in particular, he created "Pilos del café", a coffee-growing project for young people at the Clavellinas school.
The 4th generation is promising! We spoke to Bryan and Andrea, Oscar's nephew and niece. They are currently studying commerce and communication in the city of Bucaramanga and are keen to take over the family farm from Oscar and Mildred.
All are certified organic and Bird Friendly. He is the first in the region to finance his own organic certification, which is something the Federation generally pays for. He has an entrepreneurial temperament, and it was this that pushed him to become independent, in order to find his own customers, be free to make his own decisions and manage his production in line with his own vision of coffee growing. Despite a few difficult years spent battling with the Federation, Oscar has finally found his own customers and now sells more than 60% of his production directly for export.
