Where rare varieties reveal their true character.

At Misiones, each variety is more than a name—it's a story of flavor, resilience, and identity. Since 2017, we've introduced rare cultivars like Java and Sudan Rume, now thriving alongside our distinctive Castillo. In our soil, these varieties don't just grow—they shine, revealing their full potential in every cup.

Since 2017, Java and Sudan Rume have become part of Misiones' new wave of coffee varieties—now totaling 15—reflecting our commitment to reenter the radar of both Colombian and international specialty coffee. These unique cultivars have proven to thrive not only in cup quality and processing potential, but also in expressing their full agronomic potential in the terroir of Misiones.

While our history has been closely tied to Castillo, once boasting over 700 hectares planted—one of the largest single estates with this variety—today we continue to stand out not by scale, but by the unique profile our Castillo offers. Its distinct cup continues to attract interest from diverse markets around the world.

The farm Hacienda Misiones

Just two hours south of Bogotá, on the road to El Colegio and near the iconic Tequendama Falls, lies Hacienda Misiones. Founded in 1899 by Don Pedro Londoño and partners, this estate has been led by three generations and is today under the stewardship of Luis Fernando Lloreda Londoño. Its name, Misiones, comes from the religious missions once carried out here, where the estate hosted gatherings and community activities that shaped its history.

For over a century, Hacienda Misiones has combined tradition with responsible farming practices. The estate is dedicated to sustainable agronomy, using preventive and eco-friendly methods rather than aggressive chemical interventions. While minimal use of non-residual chemical inputs is applied, great care is taken to protect pollinators, preserve soil microbiota, and encourage biodiversity. Weed control is managed through pre-sowing herbicides and manual practices such as scything and hoeing, fostering a natural balance with native flora.

Today, Hacienda Misiones employs around 80 full-time workers, most of whom live on the estate in homes assigned to each project. More than just a coffee farm, it is a living legacy of tradition, community, and environmental stewardship.

A few words about Luis Fernando Lloreda

"My journey into coffee was driven by family legacy. More than a century ago, my grandfather introduced our family to this sector, planting the roots of what today is Hacienda Misiones. For me, taking the lead of this project was not only an inheritance but also a responsibility — one I could not overlook, given what this estate has meant to our family history.

Having always been connected to the agricultural sector, my vision with Misiones has been to position it as a solid company that generates dignified employment and drives rural development. We want people to see coffee as a product crafted under the highest standards of quality and sustainability, while also inspiring future generations to believe in, and work for, this sector.

At Misiones, coffee is more than a crop it is a legacy that challenges us every day to innovate, to remain competitive, and to continue creating meaningful impact in our land and community".
