The cooperative was established in 2022 and currently has 64 members, comprising 20 women and 44 men.
The members gather on the 15th of each month to discuss plans, progress, and upcoming goals. During these monthly meetings, they also participate in training sessions.
Belco has since 2024 participated in these meetings, to stregthen the capacity of the members in post harvest handling. Some trainings are conducted on member farms, to enable practical demonstrations like ripe cherry picking, drying table construction and good coffee storage practices.
The cooperative members mobilized funds from among themselves and purchased land in Kikenene village. Here they constructed a coffee processing unit that includes a hulling machine and storage facilities to further promote and maintain the quality of their coffee
During the harvest season, each member picks and sun-dries cherries at their individual farms, after which the dried coffee is collected at the cooperatives processing centre for processing and marketing.
