Women play a vital role, taking part in every stage of the supply chain but often handling the most time-consuming, most seasonal and lowest-paid tasks (like sowing, harvesting and sorting). Studies show that when women manage household income, there are many benefits: better child education, health, economic stability and overall family wellbeing.

<div>Pérez Zeledón is an origin that is naturally blessed to produce absolutely exceptional coffees. BUHO&nbsp;is a regional profile, it is a selection of peak performance lots that come from exceptional towns which have been strategically mapped throughout many years of evaluation lead by quality control. This coffee is composed of more than 700 coffee producers.</div>

<p>Tarrazu means "stone from the forest". This is one of the most kwown regions when talking about coffee production in Costa Rica, due to the quality reputation of its coffees. The highest coffee farms in the country are in this region. They can reach up to 1,900 masl and they start at 1,200 masl. In Tarrazu the main source of inome is coffee.</p>

<p>The cherries are pulped and then fermented in water. Microbial activity breaks down the mucilage. After fermentation, they are washed in water to remove the remaining mucilage. The coffee is separated when it has a moisture content of 11%.</p>

<p>El patio means playground in Spanish. It is a flat cement surface on which the coffee is spread. It must be stirred regularly to ensure even drying.&nbsp;</p>
