From the Cobán terroir, in the heart of Alta Verapaz, Kekchi coffee is produced by the cooperative FEDECOVERA (Federación de Cooperativas de las Verapaces), one of the leading cooperative structures in Guatemala.
Founded in 1976, FEDECOVERA was born from the desire of a small group of producers to organize collectively around coffee. Today, it brings together 42 cooperatives, 21 associations and more than 30,000 producer families across the Verapaces region.
FEDECOVERA’s producers belong to two emblematic Mayan communities of the region: Q’eqchi, which gives this coffee its name, and Poqomchi. Their know-how, passed down through generations, is fully expressed in this organic washed coffee, a faithful reflection of its origin.
Historically built around coffee, the cooperative has gradually diversified by developing other agricultural sectors such as cardamom, cacao, tea, pepper and turmeric, strengthening the economic resilience of producer families.
