This exceptional Kenyan AA coffee comes from Bahati Blue Farm, located in the highlands of Nakuru County. The farm is owned and operated by the dedicated couple Sheila and Alkis, who cultivate two carefully selected varieties: Batian and Ruiru 11.
In 2024, Fantanesh, our Quality Manager based in Addis Ababa, personally visited Bahati Blue Farm. During her visit, she made a remarkable observation: it was the first time she found coffee trees growing under shade in Kenya a practice that reflects the farm's dedication to sustainable and quality-focused agriculture.
This lot is classified as AA — Kenya's highest coffee grade, determined by bean size (Screen 18 +) and density. AA beans are known for their bright, vibrant acidity and complex flavor profile.
The harvest is carried out with meticulous attention to quality. Cherries are picked at full ripeness, with the harvest lasting all day to collect only the ripest fruit and prevent them from falling, which would compromise quality.
The processing begins with an overnight rest on drying beds, allowing the cherries to condition before being pulped the following morning. The coffee is then thoroughly washed to ensure a clean, bright cup profile.
