In the lush highlands of Kericho, within Kenya's famed Rift Valley, Kiqwetu Coffee Estate is redefining what sustainable specialty coffee looks like. At altitudes ranging from 1,450 to 1,800 meters above sea level, this pioneering estate produces premium, single-origin coffee through farming practices that are responsible.
Kiqwetu is among the first certified organic coffee farms in Kenya, holding both EU Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications. These accreditations reflect a deep commitment to sustainability, traceability, environmental conservation, and social responsibility—values that are woven into every stage of production, from farm to export.
This AA grade lot features the Batian, SL28, and Ruiru 11 varieties—each selected for cup quality, disease resistance, and adaptability to Kericho's high-altitude climate. The cherries are selectively harvested, ensuring only the ripest fruit is processed.
The fully washed method begins with pulping the harvested beans, followed by fermentation to remove mucilage, and thorough washing in clean water. The beans are then dried on raised African drying beds inside a shaded solar dryer, a technique that protects the coffee from direct sun over-exposure while ensuring slow, even drying to preserve delicate flavor compounds.
The cup scored 85.50 points—a testament to Kiqwetu's quality-driven approach.
