At 1,800 meters, on volcanic soil cooled by mountain mist over Mt. Elgon, AA-grade beans—the largest screen size Kenya produces—are hand‑picked at peak ripeness.
Sunrise, a washed Kenya coffee that delivers everything the country is famous for: blackcurrant brightness, citrus snap, and a finish that lingers like dawn.
AA means screen size 18+—the biggest, most developed beans from the harvest. They spend longer on the tree, absorb more volcanic minerals, and cup with more complexity.
The washed process here follows Kenya's legendary tradition:
- Hand‑sorted cherries
- Pulped within hours of harvest
- Fermented overnight in clean water
- Washed thoroughly in spring-fed channels
- Dried slowly on raised beds for 14+ days
The company employ 27 full‑time staff and over 100 casual workers—90% women. They run a Women in Coffee North of Rift (NORT) training center, teaching chemical safety, handling, and marketing. No herbicides. Organic pesticides only (neem oil, chili sprays). Earthworms turn coffee pulp and macadamia husks into vermicompost.
