About

The Halo Hartume station has 310 drying beds and spans approximately 4.5 hectares. It employs nearly 100 people. Nestled between the Beriti and Shasemene mountains, the station collects cherries from nearly 450 outgrowers, all from the Halo Hartume kebele. Their cultivated land varies from 1.5 to 12 hectares.

The cherries are typically received at the station at the end of the day, where they are carefully sorted before being laid out to dry on African beds. During drying, the coffees are regularly turned (approximately every two hours) to ensure homogeneity of the process. During periods of intense heat, the beds are also covered to protect the cherries and ensure optimal quality.

The station's priority? To maintain close relationships with its farmers and improve coffee quality year after year. Farmers associated with the Halo Hartume station receive annual training and maintain strong relationships with RAD, the Exporter we work with and owner of the Halo Hartume station.
Once drying is complete, the coffees are stored in jute bags in Chelchele, located approximately 5 kilometers from the station, before being prepared for export.
