Farm

Altamira
Volcan del Chingo

About

The plantation is about 50 hectares, it is divided into different plots: "Altamira", "El Salitre" and "San Isidro". Located between 1200 and 1300 meters above sea level, the coffee trees benefit from a rich volcanic subsoil and grow entirely in the shade of pines, teaks and lemon trees planted for 80 years by the Barrera family. This permanent shade allows the cherries to reach their optimum ripeness in a slow and progressive manner ensuring perfect transmission of all the sugars from the pulp to the grains. The fully hand-picked harvest takes place in five passes for each tree. The farm does not have its own processing plant but transports its cherries to the Cuzcachapa cooperative.
