Don Jimenez
Pico Duarte

About

The Don Jimenez finca is located in the heart of the Cordillera Central near the Pico Duarte mountain, which at 3,098 metres is the highest point in the Caribbean. It is a 60-hectare plantation and one of the oldest in the Dominican Republic, created in the 1930s. Having been abandoned for some time, the finca was taken over in 2009 by a former coffee broker and two agricultural engineers. Its coffee trees grow at an altitude of 1,400 metres in an exceptional terroir that combines an altitude, climatic conditions and soil type capable of producing a complex and subtle coffee. Thanks to a clay and ferrous subsoil, coffee trees have all the nutrients they need for the cherries to develop fully, and the big temperature differences between night and day allow the fruit to mature slowly.
