About

The El Dorado farm belongs to Drigelio Bercerra and his wife, Maria. It is located in the town, or micro-terroir, of Isnos, located 228 km from Neiva, which is the capital of the Huila region. Isnos is a name of indigenous origin, used by local communities to designate the tradition of stone carving and which means “sacred stone”. In 1995, UNESCO declared this village a World Heritage Site. Isnos is located in the Colombian Massif, which is part of the majestic Andes Cordillera, in an intertropical zone called the equatorial belt. Isnos enjoys high annual rainfall and a tropical climate. These are ideal conditions for crops, and the area is known for its production of not only coffee but also sugar cane and various fruits, including granadillas (a type of passion fruit), lulos and tomatoes. There are about 2,350 coffee producers cultivating over 2,000 hectares. At Isnos, there are 51 producers growing over 60 varieties of coffee.
