Alo is one of the latest washing station to be inaugurated by DWD, and started operating in 2021. The station is located in the Sidama region, Bensa Woreda, 1 km from the kebele (village) of Alo. With an altitude of 2300-2400 metres, this climate offers ideal growing conditions for coffee. The harvest season lasts from November to February. Highly skilled teams sort the cherries on the drying beds as soon as they arrive. There are 8 permanent employees and up to 300 pickers at the peak of the harvest. The station has 165 drying beds and produces coffee in natural & red honey processes. A wide variety of coffee trees overhang the plantations such as Grawa, Bisana, Wanza, Koso, Dokma, Kerkaha, Kerero, Birbirsa, Popocarpus falcatus, Tsid, Zembaba...
