Daye Bensa

Keramo
Sidama

About

The village of Keramo is located at 2000 m, in Sidama appellation, inclued in the district of Bensa. Sidama is divided into four different areas (called A, B, C, D), each offering a specific cup profile. The Sidama A appellation got sweetness and some of yellow fruits notes. Coffee is collected here from several small producers for whom coffee cultivation is integrated into different food crops (fruits, vegetables, etc.). This agricultural system helps families to diversify household incomes. Coffee growing here is ancient. The natural environment is rich, soils are fertile and coffee trees are covered by endemic species good for shade. By the will to preserve this environment, Daye Bensa coordinates a reforestation program, following the advice of the Ministry of Agriculture, to increase the tree cover of his coffee farm.
