About

Kochere Reku coffee, sourced from the Yirgacheffe appellation, is collected by Moplaco from among some 200 farmers. They all work on small farms, just a few hectares in size, located in the Kochere district in the region of Gedeo. Moplaco has installed a dry-processing station with steel African beds in the village of Chelelektu, which is the district’s capital, in order to optimise drying quality. The station is situated in the vicinity of the Rekumountain after which the coffee is named. Heleanna and her teams produce a complex, high-altitude coffee (grown at around 2,000 metres) well known for its fruity and floral notes. Before Moplaco arrived, the region produced exclusively fully-washed coffees. Moplaco’s teams have risked a bold positioning that includes natural coffees. They were the first in the region to prepare coffee this way, resulting in some very interesting profiles that were quickly spotted by our Belco teams. The coffee is processed directly by Moplaco in Addis Ababa.
