Augustine Mweruka farms 30 acres of coffee on the slopes of Kabakokolo Hill, where he intercrops coffee with bananas and Mutuba trees. He mulches his fields using Kalenziwe grass harvested from the surrounding Kabakokolo hills.
Coffee has shaped Augustine's entire life. His father was among the pioneering coffee farmers of the historic Koki Kingdom, in the central region of Uganda and the income from coffee paid for Augustine's education and supported his family. Before becoming a producer himself, Augustine spent years trading coffee cherries, purchasing from neighboring farmers and delivering them to local milling stations.
Today, Augustine manages his farm together with his family and mother, continuing a legacy built over generations.
