The Kibota-Katebwa Producers' Cooperative was founded in 2014 as an association of 102 farmers. Recognizing the need for collective bargaining power to negotiate fair prices, Reuben Mutagwanzwa, who had previously received training from SATNET (Sustainable Agriculture Trainers Network), led the formation of the association, which has since grown to include 662 members, including 320 men and 202 women. The aim is to empower farmers by guaranteeing them fair compensation for their high-quality coffee.
The cooperative is Fair Trade certified and is in the process of obtaining organic certification. These certifications guarantee that the coffee produced meets high standards of quality, sustainability and ethical business practices.
