Farm

Petrona Perez
Tenejapa

About

Petrona Perez produces coffee on tiny plots on an extremely rich soil. Harvesting and preparation are made in small-scale. The process, the washing and the fermentation in small bins are made in a neighbor's coffee "farm". Coffee beans then dry slowly because Tenajapa is a mountainous area that is often cloudy and fresh. Petrona has been a coffee grower since childhood. She joined the Cafeologo project in 2017 following proposals from family members who were already part of the project. Its production is minimal, almost domestic because she owns less than one hectare and produces about 500 kg of green beans per year. Petrona's coffees have been used in barista contests and drunk in many European coffee shops. Petrona lives and works with her mother, Doña Antonia.
