Bariguna is a small, quality-focused company that partners directly with coffee farmers in the Mount Elgon and Masaka regions.
It was founded in 2020 by a Swiss-German former aid worker who had spent half his working life in East Africa. He was joined by a Ugandan of German origin who wanted to take over his grandfather's farm and develop it into organic farming.
As a buyer and exporter, the company aims to work with small producers to improve their harvesting and post-harvest processing methods to access the specialty coffee market.
