To meetJose Mejia

A few words about Jose Mejia

José Mejia is 36 years old, he lives in the micro terroir of Flor del Norte, at an altitude of 1868 meters in the district of Huabal. José has been cultivating coffee for 15 years and like many farmers in the region, coffee represents his greatest source of income and even more than that, it is the agricultural product that allows them to improve their living conditions, those of their children and grandchildren too. He learns something new every day in production, innovates in the field and applies the technical advice of agricultural practices conveyed by Coopagro. The “Las Guabas? plot is planted with Caturra, typica, costa rica. The harvest takes place from June to November. He pulps his cherries with a small manual pulper, ferments them for 20 hours and dries them on a patio for 15 to 18 days. To sell his coffee at the Coopagro collection center, José goes to the town of Jaen, a 3-hour drive away. On average, his coffees are 85+ and José would love for the roasters who buy his coffee to come visit his farm and discover his world!
