Chalatenango, located in the north of the country, is a growing coffee-growing region, with fertile soils and a favorable climate that benefit production. Furthermore, its biodiversity and mountainous landscapes, such as Cerro El Pital and the La Montañona Reserve, strengthen ecotourism and sustainable development. Its biodiversity is rich, home to species such as the Torogoz (national bird), deer, and a diverse flora of pines and oaks. This combination of coffee growing and natural beauty makes Chalatenango a key location for both agricultural production and ecotourism in the country.
This mountain range encompasses the municipalities of Chalatenango and Santa Ana, representing approximately 7% of El Salvador's national coffee production. Although its volume is smaller compared to other coffee-growing regions, its quality has been recognized in competitions such as the Cup of Excellence.
