The most important coffee-producing regions in Mexico are Chiapas and Veracruz. The second, Veracruz, is situated on a volcanic chain. The coffee trees are grown at its highest altitudes.
The term “Altura” means that the plantations are located at altitudes of between 1,000 and 1,600 metres.
The region is known for its many springs, and its coffees are usually prepared by washing.
