Grown in the volcanic soils of southwestern Nariño, this coffee is more than an origin — it is the collective expression of thousands of coffee-growing families who have made coffee their way of life.
Behind every lot stands CafeOccidente, an organization that brings together more than 12,000 producers and 2,500 members, supporting the region’s coffee sector with structure, vision, and long-term commitment. From its local roots, it drives quality, traceability, and real opportunities for rural communities.
Across these traditionally farmed lands, Castillo, Colombia, and Caturra varieties thrive in balance with their environment. Their presence is no coincidence — they have proven to be well adapted to these farms, valued not only for their resilience but also for the cup quality they consistently deliver. Here, knowledge is not learned overnight; it is passed down through generations.
Beyond the harvest, life on these farms continues. Between cycles, families care for their land and cultivate food crops, preserving biodiversity and strengthening their food security. It is a model of farming that reflects true sustainability — rooted in both land and livelihood.
The harvest takes place once a year, over a period of approximately six months, requiring patience and precision. Cherries are handpicked in multiple passes, ensuring that only those at optimal ripeness are selected. Year after year, volumes remain stable, reflecting consistency in both practices and commitment.
Once processed at the farm level, the coffee is delivered to CafeOccidente as dry parchment, entering a critical stage of quality control and preparation. Supported by an SCA-certified physical and sensory analysis laboratory, each lot is carefully assessed, ensuring international standards and a reliable offer for buyers.
The cooperative’s management, supported by resources from Colombia’s National Coffee Fund and the distribution of agricultural inputs, allows it to accompany producers throughout the entire value chain — from farm to market.
This is not just a coffee shaped by exceptional volcanic soils. It is the result of a strong collective, a structured organization, and a shared vision: to build value at origin through quality, consistency, and purpose.
